OAKLAND, CaliforniaFor 48 years, Centro Legal de la Raza (Centro Legal) has been a cornerstone of justice for low-income, Latino and immigrant communities in the Bay Area. Centro Legal provides free and low-cost bilingual legal aid, “know-your-rights” legal education, and youth development to help low-income and immigrant families stay together, lift themselves out of poverty, stay safe from violence, and become engaged citizens. In 2005, Centro Legal founded the Youth Law Academy, an academic success and college access program that works to bridge the achievement gap for low-income youth of color and develop the next generation of attorneys and leaders.
Founded in 1969, Centro Legal advances the rights of low-income, Spanish-speaking immigrants by providing culturally and linguistically appropriate legal services, referral, and advocacy to thousands of people each year.
